Can I install a CD changer? I was told that the premium sound system in my Impala includes eight speakers. I can find only 4 speaker grills. Did they forget to install the other four? The front doors contain two speakers each, a main speaker and a tweeter. The rear deck contains coaxial speakers. Normally, this type of speaker is called a 2-way speaker and is considered one speaker. However, to GM, this is two separate speakers a main and a tweeter so the Impala is equipped with 4 speakers in the package shelf. Can I replace my speakers?

Ask Question Step 3: I decided to not cut up my PSU cables as i may need the computer it came from at some point, you will need to find the pins shown in the pic, they are on the connector that was originally on your motherboard, the cables should be green and black, any black ground connector will do the trick. Now a quick check, turn on your PSU and if the fan spins you’re all set for the next step. Add Tip Step 4:
Make sure this fits by entering your model number.; The Listen Up Personal Sound Amplifier (PSAP) is a Base Model Hearing Amplifier to Help you hear in any envnironement Amplifies ambient noise with the equipped volume adjustment wheel – allowing you to set the device to a comfortable listening volume.
Class AB amps combine the good points of class A and B amps. They have the improved efficiency of class B amps and distortion performance that is a lot closer to that of a class A amp. With such amplifiers, distortion is worst when the signal is low, and generally lowest when the signal is just reaching the point of clipping. Class AB amps like class B use pairs of transistors, both of them being biased slightly ON so that the crossover distortion associated with Class B amps is largely eliminated.
Class C amps are never used for audio circuits. They are commonly used in RF circuits. Class C amplifiers operate the output transistor in a state that results in tremendous distortion it would be totally unsuitable for audio reproduction. However, the RF circuits where Class C amps are used employ filtering so that the final signal is completely acceptable.
Class C amps are quite efficient. Due to improvements in the speed, power capacity and efficiency of modern semiconductor devices, applications using Class D amps have become affordable for the common person. Whereas the aforementioned classes of amplifier operate the semiconductor devices in the linear mode, Class D amplifiers operate the output semiconductor devices as switches ON or OFF. In a Class D amplifier, the input signal is compared with a high frequency triangle wave, resulting in the generation of a Pulse Width Modulation PWM type signal.
The output of the filter drives the speaker.
Connecting subwoofer to a stereo
Overview[ edit ] Bridged or paralleled modes of working, normally involving audio power amplifiers, are methods of combining the output of two identical amplifiers to provide, what is in effect, a mono amplifier. Combining more than two amplifiers can be effected using the basic principles described, including the possibility of bridge and parallel modes in combination. Two identical amplifiers are most often encountered in a common case, with a common power supply, and would normally be regarded as a stereo amplifier.
Any conventional stereo amplifier can be operated in bridge or parallel mode provided that the common loudspeaker terminals normally black are connected and common to the ground rail within the amplifier.
Jul 05, · Cons: Either your computer has to be close to your stereo, or you need a very long cable. 3) The $20 solution: connect digitally. If you’ve got a sound card with a digital output and your hifi receiver or home cinema setup has a digital input, this is a great way to go. The quality of sound will depend upon the quality of your receiver.
Both the theory and practical points on how to connect 2 speakers are discussed. Connecting 2 speakers in parallel or series to your amplifier is useful when: If you need to turn each speaker on or off individually or have separate volume controls, you may need a speaker selector switch. Many people get confused when we talk about a stereo amplifier. A stereo amp simply has two amplifiers built into the one box. We are not talking about connecting two speakers to a stereo amp, as that simply involves connecting one spe aker to each amplifier left and right.
There are many cases when you want to connect four speakers to a stereo amp, that is, to connect 2 speakers to each amplifier — or four speakers in total. For the rest of this article, when we talk about an amplifier, we are talking about either the left or right amplifier only. You may want to connect 2 speakers to one amplifier without individual switching or volume controls if you: The are two basic ways of connecting two speakers together — either in series or parallel.
Should 2 speakers be connected in Series or Parallel? Whether 2 speakers connected to one amplifier should be in series or parallel mostly depends on the impedance of the speakers.

Wiring Multiple Speakers Calculating Impedance Loads This calculator is intended to help you determine the impedance of a speaker or subwoofer wiring configuration. There are many ways you can connect multiple speakers together. The most common and best way is to connect them in parallel. You do this by connecting the positive speaker wire from the amp to the positive terminal on the first subwoofer. In the picture below, one channel is shown.

Where to Ground Your Subwoofer Amplifier October 31, You’ve just bought a massive subwoofer amplifier and you’re going to install it yourself. You’ve heard of the phenomenon called a “ground loop” from the salesman, but he didn’t or couldn’t explain what a ground loop is or how it can adversely affect the quality of the audio reproduced by the new, high-end car audio system.
In a nutshell, properly grounding amps is extremely important in order to obtain noise-free audio. Ground Loops Explained A ground loop is an electrical fault that occurs when two pieces of equipment in the same system are not at the same ground potential. The ground loop will make itself known by a hiss or hum heard in the audio reproduced by the stereo system. How to Defeat a Ground Loop All volt components need to be grounded at the same location.
This is something to consider when performing a subwoofer installation. The best way to ground your car stereo components is to run a 10 or gauge wire from the amp, and gauge from all other components, such as head unit and active crossovers, to a central location. Then run a single ground to the best source of ground, the negative terminal on your car’s battery.
What many professionals do is run everything to a circuit strip and then run a single wire to the battery to supply ground for everything.

In some ways, thick, high-end wire can present MORE of a problem than the conventional skinnier stuff. More on that later. For the purposes of discussion we will use the term “amp” short for amplifier to refer to any receiver, integrated amp or power amp. This sheet is intended for solid state, transistorized sets.
Apr 22, · Whether you’re an audiophile or just a basshead (cf. Lady Tigra & Bunny), you’re certain to appreciate this video, which details how to install passive crossover mid drivers in a car.
Whether it’s an installation that might not have gone as planned, or a random problem that comes out of nowhere. Here is a list of your common car stereo problems, symptoms and solutions to help get your stereo up and running! Many Jeeps and Chevrolet systems have a data signal wire that carries a very low voltage signal that tells the OEM Head Unit when to turn on, however; it is not compatible with aftermarket units.
If you have a voltage meter or a test light, test the ground black , constant 12v yellow , and accessory 12v red wires to make see if you have the correct voltage in the correct wires, as well as a good ground. Constant will always be 12v, whether or not your car is on. Make sure to use your ground, as well as another ground like the frame or body of the car while testing your constant and accessory to test that you have a good ground.
If you find that one of your power wires or ground wires are not correct, check your vehicle wire diagram and make sure you have the correct corresponding power and ground wires. After finding the location of the fuse, pull it and make sure that the leads are not corroded and that the fuse has not been broken or popped. Most aftermarket amplifiers have a protection from low and high voltage.

Bluetooth car amplifiers are designed specifically for convenience in installation and for specialized applications. The Bluetooth technology is helpful for active lifestyle and power sport applications such as ATV, UTV, and SSV installations.
VIDEOS Advanced Speaker Wiring Techniques For the basic user simply hooking up a pair of speakers to a 2 channel amplifier is pretty straightforward, and doing so will never cause them any problems. But what if you need more speakers? Well things can get a little more complex. First off there are a couple of important things we need to know about the setup and hardware. We can look on the back of the speaker and see that each speaker has a 4 ohm impedeance.
Impedeance in short is a measurement of resistance in ohms the lower the ohm load the easier it is for electricity to flow through the load speakers. While it would seem that a lower ohm load is better because it’s easier for current to flow, this isn’t the case at all. If your combined ohm load on your amplifier is lower than the amplifier can handle it will cause your amplifier to rapidly overheat resulting in the amplifier shutting down or burning up.

Can I connect iPod to a Sony amplifier
I also think its a good idea to unplug the amp. Is it better to use the out here rather than just take it direct from the CD out and skip the amp assembly altogether. This was essential in some ROWE models, so as when the sensitivity for flashing disco lights was set, it would remain constant for all CD’s and recording levels. It is possible that the CD player already does this internally, most home CD and CD-Rom drives with audio output already mute themselves.
This will waste power, but how much this will cost I don’t know off the top of my head. This is easy if you have the ability to do this, but could be a pain if you dont.
Apr 04, · LM Basics. The LM is quite a versatile chip. Only a couple resistors and capacitors are needed to make a working audio amplifier. The chip has options for gain control and bass boost, and it can also be turned into an oscillator capable of outputting sine waves or square waves.
I drove to work about month ago and it was hit by a tree and sustained quite a bit of damage. The body shop came and got it a week ago and said they thought it may be totaled which is exactly what I was hoping for. However, when the insurance adjuster called me he said it was not a total loss as the damage was about 14k and will take about 6 weeks to fix.
I was disappointed cause I know this truck will not be worth near as much if I try to trade it in for another or sell it privately. I called the body shop and asked if there could be more damage to raise the cost up like frame damage and they said no frame damage but maybe pillar damage so I asked them if they would do the tear down and he said he would have the shop owner call me. He said Progressive said salvage value for my truck is 4K which I know not to be true.
The shop owner offered to sell truck for me which he thought he could get k for it and I could take the insurance money and get another truck but I would be short about 10k but it may not be a bad option. I can file diminished value against Progressive as Washington state is one of the few states that allows filing against your own carrier.
Has anyone ever claimed diminished value?
